Newsletter for Friday 9/3
Welcome to the 4th grade homepage!
We were excited to see so many parents at the Back to School Night. We apologize that we had to move to a different location and appreciate that everyone was able to adapt so well to our new location in the library. We covered a lot of information so feel free to look at the presentation on the website when you need to refresh your memory.

Specials Schedule for 9/6-9/9
Morrow - ETIL
Norton - Music
Best-Bockting - Tech
Smith - Art
Language Arts
In Language Arts the students will be working on writing topic sentences. They will also continue to classify pattern one sentences.
Reading
The students will continue to make progress with their handwriting of phonograms. We are hoping to move into cursive this week. It will be a couple of weeks before we begin entering and learning spelling words into the spelling composition books. However, some classes will begin writing some “rule pages” for some of the common spelling rules the students need to know. We will also be reading the novel Pollyanna and writing summaries of selected chapters. Ms. Best-Bockting's class will also finish with reading "Mrs. Frisby and the Crow" while focusing on fluency and cause and effect.
History
We will continue to work on latitude and longitude skills this next week. This is a challenging concept that often takes several days to teach and perfect. When we finish with latitude and longitude we will move on to studying physical maps.
Science
In Science this week, the students will continue their study of water on Earth. We will read about fresh water sources and the water cycle. The students will also be writing down their lesson 2 and 3 notes. Please remind your kids to be reviewing their notes nightly as they may have a pop quiz on lesson one and two. (hint hint!!)
Math
Due to the fact that so many fourth grade students have teachers outside of fourth grade, please refer to your child's math teacher's homepage for information. Thank you!
Lunch Volunteers
(posted by Katie Morrow; 08/25/10)
Calling all fourth grade parents!! We need your help! We need parent volunteers to help supervise the students during lunch and recess. Please click on the My Sign Up link in the links section on the left. It is a great time to see your child in action and get a feel for a very important part of their day! Thanks in advance for all of you that are willing and able to help! It is a HUGE benefit to the students!
