Placement Testing Information
In order to hit the ground running on September 23, we would like to know as much as possible about our newest AA students ahead of time. Therefore, we will be scheduling testing before school starts at our Castle Pines campus. Please make every reasonable effort to bring your students to their designated testing times.
That said, we understand that you may have already scheduled a vacation or that your schedule may not make it possible to get your students to testing. If you are unable to make the days or times listed, please let Joanne Lofvenborg in our office know so you can be added to the make-up list. As the school year gets closer, we will be in touch to schedule the make-ups. We do have almost 700 students to test and would love to keep make-ups to a minimum, of course.
MATH PLACEMENT TESTING
New students going into first through sixth grade will need to take a math placement test this summer in order to determine which math class to assign in the fall. Below is the schedule by grade. You only need to select ONE day to send your student(s). If you have any questions about math placement testing, please email Ginger Norton.
June 10 – 14 (each student comes to one day only)
Grade 1: 8:00 am – 9:00 am
Grade 2: 9:30 am – 10:30 am
Grade 3: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Grade 4: 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm
Grade 5/6: 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm
MEASURE OF ACADEMIC PROGRESS (MAP) TESTING
All students going into second through sixth grade need to be MAP tested before school starts. Please bring your student every day during the time session for their grade (there are a total of four test sessions; one per day).
Every Day, Monday, September 9 – Thursday, September 12 (each student comes every day)
Grade 2: 8:30 am – 9:30 am
Grade 3: 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Grade 4: 11:30 am – 12:45 pm
Grades 5/6: 1:15 pm – 2:45 pm
ONE-ON-ONE K-2 STUDENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
September 9 – September 18: All K-2 Parker students will be scheduled for one 45-min conference with their teacher to get to know their teacher and to do a literacy assessment. Parents will be able to sign up for a time later in the summer.

We are having a KindiePrep Parent Information Night on Monday, May 20, 2013, from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the cafeteria at the Castle Pines campus. After carefully considering feedback from our current parents and staff, we have made minor modifications to the 2013-14 calendar (don’t worry, we did not do anything dramatic like move winter break!). Please note that you will be registering your students August 6 – 9 at the Castle Pines campus (we will be having an all-school registration). As you know, we have a shortened school year due to construction. Our calendar does meet total educational hours requirements, but barely (we tried to avoid going too far into the summer for the sake of our students and staff). If we have more than a couple of snow days, we will have to add a day or two to the end of the school year. Let’s hope for a mild winter!
