Third Grade Teacher
I am entering my ninth year of teaching the Core Knowledge curriculum. I completed my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2005. I live with my husband Michael a manager of network engineering at Comcast, and have one daughter, Amy (23), who is currently attending Metro State College in Denver. My family also includes two miniature Schnauzers, Badger (13) and Charlie (1), and a Border Collie, Chance (9). My favorite activities outside the classroom include playing with my dogs, planting flowers, painting, country dancing, eating Mexican food and sleeping. Far too infrequently I also enjoy biking, hiking and reading. I value parent commitment and partnerships to ensure the success of each student.

In 2007 I received my Bachelor of Arts in Special Education at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. I excelled in my studies and my passion to teach began to burn even more. I received my Elementary School Licensure in May 2009 from Colorado Christian University. I am a native to Colorado and grew up in Littleton. I am extremely close with my family. We all live in about a twenty-mile radius, and try and see one another frequently. I have one older sister and we are the best of friends. Three years ago, she got married, so I can now say I have an older brother! I enjoy being in the outdoors: hiking, mountain biking and snowshoeing. I love to cook and bake, as well as going to coffee shops with friends and or with a good book. I want to see the world, and try to travel whenever I can! Teaching is my passion and I am blessed to be able to do what I love most. I am thrilled to be apart of American Academy and I look forward to meeting you and your child.

I am excited to begin my first year at American Academy! I graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary and Kindergarten Education, and this will be my fourth year teaching elementary school. I moved to Colorado one year ago from the east coast and I love it! In my free time I like to rock climb, ski, hike, and travel to visit friends and family. I enjoy the new experiences and challenges each day of teaching brings. I look forward to a successful and exciting year in third grade!
